Behind the Barking Toad

ROB GRACE

Rob has been entertaining people for longer than he can remember (but, being middle-aged, that could be as soon as this morning).

He has performed and directed in local pantomime and drama groups, but his proudest moment was taking his comedy sketch show 'Life Jim (But Not As We Know It)' to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2015, performing at The Space @ Surgeon's Hall.

Following this amazing experience, Rob moved into solo performances and started stand-up comedy, with his first gig in Clifton, Bristol.

Since then he has gigged up and down the country, from Liverpool to Salisbury.

MATT MACAULAY

Having qualified as a drama teacher (in fairness it was last century when that sort of thing was acceptable), Matt spent years playing Hokey-Cokey with the teaching profession (his whole self being out far more than it was in).

This inability to commit afforded him such career delights as

  • Selling bras in a London department store

  • Touring Scottish primary schools singing and dancing about road safety on behalf of BP

  • Entertaining holidaymakers (often while dressed as a bear) in Norfolk

  • Presenting radio shows for Great Ormond Street Hospital Radio

  • Performing shows on the dangers of smoking to inner city teenagers (an ordeal that left him with a heavy tobacco habit)

  • Cleaning toilets on a Welsh campsite (an ordeal that left him with a heavy diarrhoea habit).

Sore, broke and broken he fell back into the world of education and somehow ended up teaching sex, drugs and RE (the music department had already nabbed rock and roll) in Gloucestershire.

He started performing stand up comedy in 2016 and refuses to stop.
